"We don't really know what happened. They were apparently eating hay through the fence panel off a round bale, down low. We don't know if the bale shifted or they got stuck of suffocated or what. Hell, Mousse didn't even have horns. They were doing what they always did. The bale was right next to the fence panel. They didn't even have to reach in, but their heads were through the bars where they were eating. We're just sick. Ken walked past there twice this afternoon, but both times must have been before they came over there. When we went out to feed 3 hours later, they were dead. Stupid, stupid. The real irony: my new $300 hay feeder that had been on back order from Premier was delivered just a few hours earlier today."
Mary is a wonderful friend and has great compassion for her herd. They are not animals, they are family members. They will be sorely missed.

Oh Karen! What a horrible tragedy!
I have tears in my eyes and a big lump in my throat just thinking about ZZ, Mousse, and the sadness everyone who knew them is feeling.
It's bad enough when pets die naturally, but accidents like this seem so senseless.
My deepest condolences.
Michele

Michele,
Thank you so much for your kind words. I know you have furries at your place too. Give them a hug for me.
