New Patterns, Kits and Yarn

We have so many amazing new products just starting to arrive in our shop this month. This month we are excited to introduce a fantastic new line of patterns, knit kits in Hummingbird, a gorgeous space dyed alpaca yarn from Artesano of England. The patterns are all designed by either Jean Moss or Jeanette Sloan and they are simply beautiful! Here are a few photos of some of the new designs all available in kit form too. This one is Lis' favorite: This one is my favorite:

Look how wondeful these patterns are:

There are so many more patterns available in either single leaf sheets, the new Hummingbird pattern book or as part of a knit kit in one of the many gorgeous Hummingbird yarn colors.

You asked for more download patterns and are happy to be able to provide this for you! We are thrilled to announce that One Planet Yarn and Fiber will now be selling the full line of Gardiner Yarn Works patterns in pdf downloads! Gardiner Yarn Works is the creative outlet for former softwear architect and company founder Chrissy Gardiner. Chrissy is a regular contributor to Interweave magazine as well as pattern compilation books and yarn company pattern lines. Here are a few of her lovely designs:

Most of Chrissy's sweater designs are also available in plus sizes up to size 6x which fits right in with our mission to make options available to knitters of all sizes.

We have some more surprises right around the corner! Keep watching!

Yarn Pirate Fans

As promised, I wanted to let all Yarn Pirate fans and those that are not fans "yet" know we have a new shipment of yarns here. All of the yarns will be made live tomorrow, Tuesday, 1/29/09 at 9:00 MST (mountain standard time). Has anyone heard from Georgia? I am kind of worried about her (excited too) because I haven't heard from her since last week and there is nothing on her blog about the baby. I am very excited for her, hope she is doing alright!

The yarns are GORGEOUS. This time she sent us these incredible semi-solid hand painted skeins. The fiber is superwash blue faced leicester and it is incredibly soft. There are enough skeins of each quantity to purchase a few to make a lovely shawl or a bigger project. So get them while they are still in stock. Semi-solid colorways are too yummy for words, especially hers, subtle shades of the same color knit up to a beautiful colorway!

Here is one of the prettiest colorways, merlot:Our very exciting new patterns, yarns and knit kits from Artesano will hopefully be "unveiled" at the end of the week! There are so many great patterns, we look forward to showing them to you. Watch for more in the February newsletter.

Spring Colors, New Yarns & More!

Each season, the fashion industry releases the Pantone report which contains suggested "in" colors for spring. We actually do look at these when choosing yarn colors for our own product lines Black Pearl Yarns, Lanas Puras Yarns and Yarn Botanika.

This is the pantone for Spring 2008 and I thought you might all like to see it:

If you want to see something truly amazing, take a look at this blog that is from one of my favorite companies called Aromaleigh. If you aren't familiar with Aromaleigh, it is one of the best companies for mineral make up in the world. I am totally addicted to all of their products, and very inspired by their colors and the creativity. In the owners blog post (click here), she shows all of her eye shadow shades that go with the Pantone report for spring. It is amazing, so take a look! It really helps you see what the "in" colors are for spring. I am not affiliated with this company but recommend their make up highly!

Speaking of colors, we are very excited to announce that we will be adding an incredibly gorgeous line of 100% very soft bamboo yarn to Black Pearl Yarns soon. It comes in gorgeous colors. We have a huge selection to pick from and I am going to ask our designers to help us choose the best colors for spring and hopefully we can get some new knit designs going for this yarn. It is so pretty, soft and affordable! We can't wait to show you!

We are looking at two or three other yarns for Lanas Puras from a new mill we made contact with in South America. This will happen more towards the fall as well as a revamping of Yarn Botanika natural fiber eco/organic yarns with fresh colors inspired by nature. We have several exclusive knitting patterns releasing soon that you all will love, including sweaters in cashmere by Melissa Wehrle and Connie Chang Chinchio and a gorgeous and colorful sweater in Lanas Puras Desert Bloom by Debbie O'Neill. We can't wait to release this. Then there are three or four spring patterns in Lanas Puras Clarissa that will be released in February or March. I really think we have a more complete pattern line that many of the yarn companies out there!

Some news about what is coming soon. Look for a new shipment of yarns from Yarn Pirate next week. I will post on the blog in advance since all of the Yarn Pirate addicts like to be notified in advance as the yarns sell quickly.

We have MANY new patterns and yarns coming from Artesano Yarns from England. We are the only US company that distributes Artesano. This will change soon I am sure because the yarns are so gorgeous and the patterns are incredible. They will be releasing 60, yes 60 new patterns this year. We are busy now trying to get the new patterns and kits on the site for you. If you like hip and colorful designs, you are going to fall in love with the new patterns like we did. The new Hummingbird pattern book has 14 patterns in it using the colorful space dyed Hummingbird yarns. Here is a photo of Chill, one of the gorgeous sweaters:

Our cool finds from TNNA knitting show are not quite here yet, but we are adding four or five new yarn lines soon, plus some great new knitting bags, and gorgeous handcrafted needles. We can't wait to show you!

Thanks to those of you who joined our Ravelry group. I hope we can get everyone posting more about the projects they are making from One Planet. Feel free to post comments here as well. We get lots of emails from all of you with your nice comments and suggestions, so feel free to post them here as well! We are always looking for new and unusual yarns, patterns and more to bring to all of you!

Artesano Ltd- Welcome to North America!

We are proud to be the very first US knitting store to carry yarns from Artesano LTD, based out of the United Kingdom! They are a family run business committed to ethical trading practices. Artesano's main suppliers are based in Peru and and some yarn also comes from Bolivia, one of the poorest countries in South America. Artesano has been very careful to work with co-operatives and companies that have a good record of looking after the people that work for them. The yarns are the highest quality and softest pure alpaca yarns we have felt. There are currently three yarns, Inca Cloud, a superfine alpaca, Inca Mist, a baby alpaca and Hummingbird, a space dyed multicolor alpaca yarn. They are all DK weight and interchangeable in patterns. For those of you who love sock yarn, Artesano's Hummingbird yarn is amazing. It somes in HUGE 150 gram skeins in a variety of colors. You will have a pair of super luxurious socks.

We chose Artesano because of their smaller size, the high quality of the alpaca yarn, the range of colors offered, their commitment to ethical trading practices, and also because they have fantastic and modern pattern support! Most of the patterns are designed by Jean Moss, a well known knitwear designer in the UK. Her designs are absolutely gorgeous! We are proud to carry all of the patterns and the yarn you will need to knit them. Here are a few of our favorites. Also there is a fantastic pattern book, which is a wonderful value because it has TEN of Jean Moss's patterns in it. Make sure to take a look at it.

All of Artesano's yarns and patterns are now available at One Planet Yarn and Fiber.
