Farmhouse Yarns and Patterns

When we were at the TNNA convention, last January, the Farmhouse Yarns booth really stood out to us. They had tons of colorful hand painted yarns in all kinds of fibers all the around the booth. But also we really enjoyed meeting the owner and hearing her story and the company's philosophy. The people at Farmhouse Yarns truly love sheep, yarn, fiber and color!! They have their own flock of sheep that they try to utilize as much as possible for their yarns. Of course some of their yarns, like Cotton Blossom by Dixie and Bonnie's Bamboo do not come from sheep!! If they don't have enough wool for their yarns, they try to buy from smaller farms rather than huge mills.

The owner, Carol, hand dyes most of the yarns herself. She loves color and you can tell this by the color combinations she chooses. Her relatives help with the cellulose fibers (cotton and bamboo) as this uses a different type of dye and process.

She has also developed a lot of patterns. Most of them are easy to follow and are fairly straightforward and designed to show off the unusual colors and fibers. I think you will fine quite a few pretty and fun lightweight sweaters to knit for the spring and summer as well as fall and winter items. We will be adding a few more of her yarns and more fall patterns towards the end of the summer......

We hope you will give Farmhouse Yarns a try. We carry the Cotton Blossom, a gorgeous worsted weight cotton/rayon blend, Fannie's Fingering, a soft fingering weight yarn, the Bonnie's Bamboo-a beautiful DK weight pure bamboo with gorgeous shine and softness and Lumpy Bumpy by Charlene, a very fun to knit bulky weight yarn that knits up quickly......

Fleece Artist Fiber, Farmhouse Yarns, Be Sweet, More

We wanted to tell you about some of the items we have just added to the site. Many colorful and beautiful new things for yarn and fiber lovers! Also see below for a brief description of what is coming soon to One Planet Yarn and Fiber.

We just added tons of gorgeous spinning fiber from Fleece Artist-we have new very large 250 gram (8.2 ounce) balls of hand painted BFL and merino silk. Also the 50 gram braids that we have been carrying for awhile and sell pretty quickly. There are many beautiful colors, here is just a few.

We have many new patterns from Be Sweet Yarns, both for the gorgeous magic balls as well as for their bamboo yarns. We will be adding more kits as well as the incredible Be Sweet knitting bags in the next week and in the next month we will be adding more magic balls as well as their new organic cotton/bamboo blend. This is an incredible yarn for spring and summer!

We added some absolutely beautiful and funky knitting bags from Two Stix. These are each hand made from recycled sweaters-each bag is one of a kind. We also have the Two Stix needle holders.

Are you familiar with Farmhouse Yarns? What a cool company. The yarn is all natural fibers and simply gorgeous-all hand painted and one of a kind skeins. The yarns are all from local sheep! We added the Fannie's Fingering weight yarn and we will be soon adding some of their hand painted cotton/spring yarns and lots of patterns. Make sure to take a look at the beautiful hand painted colors.

Coming soon.......

An incredible new line of sock yarn called "Feet First" from a really cool indie company based in Missouri. They also have a unique line of fun and hip spindles called technospindles. We can't wait for you to see them! We have a new shipment of lovely sock yarn from Marion's Sock Yarns yarns from Germany. We will be adding another really unique company from Wales, called Fyberspates, and introducing her luxury hand painted yarns, fibers and knit kits.
