Sweater Knit Kits designed by Debbie O'Neill

We have two new sweater knit kits from Debbie O'Neill to blog about...

The Piuma Griga Cashmere Tee and the Myrtille Cardigan are designs by Debbie O'Neill of Nutty Creations. Debbie is a very talented designer. Her patterns are very well-written and easy to follow. She has created other patterns for One Planet Yarn and Fiber including the very popular Dayflower Cardigan, the Arrowhead Lace Cardigan and the Gulf Cardigan. We have had great feedback from our customers regarding all of Debbie's designs, and all of them are available as knit kits at One Planet Yarn and Fiber. Debbie is planning a few more designs for spring including a lace shawl in HandMaiden sea silk and other surprises for you in other various Fleece Artist/HandMaiden yarns.

All of Debbie's patterns and the knit kits come in extended sizes including XS and plus sizes in keeping with One Planet's goal of having as many kits and patterns as possible in this wide range of sizes to fit all women.

Piuma Griga Cashmere Tee

Here are some photos of the Piuma Griga cashmere tee and the Myrtille Cardigan. You can read more about them on their product listings on our site-just click on the pattern name.. The yarn used for both of these is very special. The Piuma Grigia pattern is knit in Black Pearl Yarns pure DK cashmere, one of our best selling yarns. The Myrtille Cardigan is knit with the very special Fleece Artist Lanica - an unusual single ply 100% organic yarn, dyed with plant based dyes. Plant dyed yarns are very special in that the colors are unusual. The color used for Myrtille is Blueberry and some have asked us why it is not blue! The actual blueberry plant, the leaves were used to dye this color and they are a beautiful shade of soft olive green.

We have two other new knit kits which we will blog about separately! These deserved their own blog post.

Spring Surprises Abound!

Spring has finally arrived and here at One Planet Yarn and Fiber, we have some fresh and wonderful new patterns to welcome the new season. First, we are thrilled to announce the release of our newest pattern for Lanas Puras Clarissa, the Dayflower Cardigan. The Dayflower Cardigan was designed by the incredibly talented Debbie O'Neill who also designed the Gull Stitch Cardigan and the Arrowhead Lace Cardigan. It is the perfect spring and summer sweater for just a little warmth over a camisole or sun dress. The Dayflower lace panels are elegant, but the swingy style and cap sleeves keep the cardi playful. It is available as a single pattern download or in a complete yarn kit. If you haven't had the chance to try our beautiful all season Lanas Puras Clarissa yarn, we really encourage you to give it a try. Clarissa takes the lovely and pure softness of our Uruguay merino and blends it with light weight, breathable cotton. It is a 50% cotton, 50% merino cotton comfort yarn and still has incredible artisan appeal because it is hand painted and has a very slight thick and thin texture to it. It is available in 11 different colors.

Next, we are thrilled to announce that we will now be carrying the full line of patterns designed by the wonderfully creative Kara Gott. Kara Gott Warner, designer of igottknits began her design career in the early 1990's in New York's Garment Center. Kara first learned how to knit as a child, but not until 1995 did she rediscover knitting as her passion. In 1997, Kara started designing knitted and crocheted accessories, selling on the craft and artisan show circuit, then branching off to knitting patterns and kits. Kara's designs have been published in several popular knitting magazines. She will also be editing two upcoming knitting books.

Kara has some of the most adorable patterns we have seen for children as well as some women's sweater and purse patterns. Here is a sampling. This one is called Garden Party and is sized for girls ages 2-10. This one is called Key Lime Pie and is also sized for girls sizes 2-10.
This one is called Katie and would be adorable for the girl in your life!
This pattern is called Girl from Ipanema and is a lovely figure flattering sweater featuring ruffled edges and an empire wasit to give it a shapely, feminine look.Check out the new igottknits section at One Planet Yarn and Fiber. We are particularly excited to be able to offer you all of Kara's patterns on a download basis. Continue to keep an eye on this space for more exciting spring surprises!

The Gull Stitch Cardigan Has Arrived!

For walks on a cool afternoon or curling up by the fire on a chilly, winter evening, this cardigan is the perfect wardrobe addition. The against-the-skin softness of the yarn and mock turtleneck make it a cozy sweater ideal for casual wear indoors or out. The gull stitch detail makes for interesting knitting that is simple enough for even the novice cable knitter.

The Gull Stitch Cardigan is shown in Lanas Puras Melosa, worsted weight yarn in Desert Bloom, one of our most popular colorways. It was designed by the very talented Debbie O'Neill who also designed the Arrowhead Lace Cardigan exclusively for One Planet Yarn and Fiber.

The cardigan is available as a pattern download or as part of a knit kit which includes the pattern download and the yarn in Desert Bloom. Like all of the patterns created by our design team here at One Planet Yarn and Fiber, the cardigan pattern is sized to fit all women, ranging from XS-3x.

Patterns, patterns, patterns!

Here at One Planet Yarn and Fiber, we love patterns to showcase our gorgeous yarns and we especially love being able to provide you with beautiful, unique, and fashion forward patterns created exclusively for us by our fabulous design team. We are once again thrilled to announce the release of our newest pattern, the Arrowhead Lace Cardigan designed by the very talented Debbie O'Neill. Debbie has been knitting for nearly 20 years and has been teaching knitting and designing knit wear for the past 10 years. Her designs have appeared in Interweave Knits, Knit Simple, the Ethnic Knits series by Donna Druchunas and various House of White Birches books. She also has a line of self published patterns and works with a variety of yarn companies and small retailers. When she is not knitting, designing, or working her day job, Debbie spins, weaves, quilts, sews garments, does needlework, and spends as much time as possible with her family. While Debbie doesn’t have a blog, you can find her on ravelry.com.

The Arrowhead Lace Cardigan is a surprisingly straightforward knit with elegant results. The body is lacy, while the sleeves are solid with a lacy cuff lending a bell effect. Dress it up with a skirt or wear it with your favorite jeans. The pattern is shown here in lovely Lanas Puras Melosa, fingering weight yarn, in the Fern Green colorway. The pattern is sized all the way from women's x-small through 3x. A size small uses only 3 skeins of Lanas Puras Melosa!

The pattern is available as part of a yarn kit or as a single pattern download. It would be a wonderful addition to your wardrobe or would make a special holiday gift for a favorite friend or family member.
Another new arrival in our store is the brand new! Rebecca Magazine. Rebecca knitting pattern magazines from Germany are filled with gorgeous fashion-forward knitting patterns.. This new edition has 41 incredible fall designs to fit bust sizes 30-42". Patterns include accessories, sweaters and adorable dresses! Be sure to pick one up before they sell out!

Keep any eye or two on this space for more patterns and special treats to come!
