Lanas Puras Clarissa
We are very excited to introduce a new yarn by Lanas Puras. It is called Lanas Puras Clarissa. This yarn was spun and dyed for One Planet Yarn and Fiber in Uruguay. Since we designed the yarn ourselves, we are the only company that we know of with this wonderful yarn. The yarn is spun from 50% cotton and 50% merino wool. It is the same pure soft merino used in Lanas Puras Melosa, but spun with a strand of cotton, which results in a lighter, more breathable fabric. The yarn has an artisan feel to it because it is slightly thick and thin and it has some texture to it. My swatch using size 7 needles came in at 5 3/4 stiches per inch. Using size US 5 needles, it came in at 5 1/4 stitches per inch. This is considered a DK or light worsted weight yarn. We are considering adding Clarissa as a chunky yarn too and we would love your feedback on this after you have tried it! We will have patterns coming for this yarn. In the meantime, it works wonderfully for most DK or light worsted weight patterns. It is great for sweaters or shawls. If you are a designer and are interested in doing a pattern in Clarissa, contact Melissa Wehrle, our creative director. Since we have so many patterns coming out already this year, these might be for spring 2008 but still we would love to see and hear your ideas! The yarn is GORGEOUS and very unusual!!
Lanas Puras Clarissa currently comes in 12 gorgeous colors. Because of the way the dyeing is done, the yarn has a "tweed effect" It is simply beautiful!
Here is an example of two of the colors, Indigo and Pomegranate. Underneath, is a swatch of pomegranate on US 7 needles.
Coming Soon------
We are working on the Jo Sharp yarn and pattern listings and they will be up within the next week! More Jo Sharp yarns will be added later in the summer. We are also adding one other very exciting company- more information later on that!
We have an adorable pattern release coming soon. A pattern by Melissa Wehrle using Yarn Botanika Radiance Merino & Tencel. It is so cute!!! We are just waiting for our last shipment of merino and tencel yarn to arrive..... Did you know tencel is an eco friendly material? It is made from wood pulp and we love it! It adds a beautiful soft shine to the yarn. We have a ton of new colors coming soon, and there are still a lot of the older colorways on sale if you want to take advantage now...
We are introducting a new customer rewards program which I think you all will be excited it! We know you love the cards that come in your orders and there will be a slight change to those plus an additional program for people who buy from us frequently! If you are not on our mailing list, please join so you can hear about all of the new things happening at One Planet Yarn and Fiber.
Happy July 4th!!
