January 24th Blog Contest

I am obviously going out poking the bushes next week at the TNNA show.  I would love your input on the types of yarn and notions that I should keep in mind when shopping.  It doesn't really matter who will be at the show as much as it matters what your needs are in the future, so, please write some comments on your dream neccessites for your artwork.  I'll report back after the show.  Enter to win one skein of your choice of any in stock yarn from Madelinetosh! Please make sure that you leave me your contact information or I will be unable to send out this prize to you.  One winner will be drawn on January 24th by the online random number generator.  Good Luck, and remember, if you don't win this time, there will be plenty of other opportunites to win something coming up this winter and spring.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Karen

P.S.- Just thought to mention that I would also like to know what you would like to see more of in the shop from the brands that I already stock.  Have fun with this one,  I really appreciate your interest in this.

A good purchase would be the addi click crochet hooks with 60" cables as you could crochet , Tunisian and Knook with them. I got a set at vogue in NY today and love them. Hope they have them for you at tnn.

I'm a little confused about whether there are one or two contests going on. In any case, I am always on the lookout for fancy stitch markers that work well (don't catch on things or rattle or make my knitting too heavy). I often participate in swaps with people, so finding something in my LYS that is a little unusual is also fun.

Hi Karen,
There is one contest ending by tomorrow to name my Shetland sheep. Details are on the blog for January 15th.

This one is a single separate contest on your ideas for the shop. Funny thing, I want to add in exactly those kinds of stitch markers too!

Annette,
I love the addis. I am also going to check out Hiya Hiya too. ChiaoGoo has something also. I will be a busy beaver!

Things that do multiple duty are always great..."many tools in one" kind of things.

This is tougher that you'd think. Trying to figure out what fits in with your current line, would be enough in demand to make it worth stocking, and doesn't reqire tons of room due to size or color choices? The only thing I can think of is a few zippers in white/black/neutral in a few lengths. But then again, what are common lengths when all of us are shaped differently? BTW: The title of this post says Jan 24th contest, but the test says the winner will be drawn Jan 15th. That may be part of the confusion.

Thanks Kitten! I fixed the typo.

I am also getting more into crochet and would like the addi hooks. I would also agree with the zipper options. I am doing more knitting with the sport and sock yarns. I am very interested in color knitting techniques and starting to do lace. I don't have any particular brands to suggest, as this is new to me. But, I would appreciate a variety of fibers and colors available at these weights. This includes both solid, hand dyed, and multi color yarns. Thank you!

There is a nice pattern by Amy Hendrix called Creature Comforts Cardi which uses madelinetosh vintage yarn. I have made it twice.
you might like to offer this pattern since you are selling the yarn.

I love the yarn brands that you carry. Unique tools that you can't live without are always great. Can't ever have enough project bags either.

Good row/stitch counter, good needles (with pointy tips at a good price point) and good scissors.

Have a good time at TNNA and hope you find some good stuff.

I just don't know...I have a hard enough time as it is with your shop! :) Anything new...in the unique tool line would be good...and the zipper thing...fancy. I'm about to look for a project with a zipper and that would be great for me.

These are all great suggestions. Keep them coming!

I'd have to "second" the suggestions for cute stitch markers, med. size project bags with lots of pockets and reasonable prices, and add buttons to the list (wood, metal, earthy, fancy). How you find time to co-ordinate all your contests and events is beyond me!!

WIP bags, cause even if you do not have acurrent in the works project in it, you can gather and store all the goodies for a project you have in the waiting period to cast on. Keeps you nicely organized and everything in one place!

Little notions kits priced low enough that I can keep one in each of a few project bags - I hate it when I don't have a yarn needle handy, but that's not something that can just go in the bottom of the bag on its own without disappearing.

I am always looking for no snag stitch markers and different notions and cases to keep them in. Project bags are always handy to have.

More cotton/bamboo/silk blended yarns, they are cooler here in the Southern US, where there is a short winter.
