Many New Colors of Sea Silk & Hip Knits

What's new this week?

We just reached our 1000th product! Hard to believe that we have that many items isn't it?!!

We had a very large shipment of Sea Silk Yarn come in from Hand Maiden Yarns. Just so everyone knows, the price went up slightly and probably will have to be raised again as it will at every other store that sells this yarn. Our exchange rate is really getting worse!! It is amazing the difference from only six months ago. Plus there was a price increase in the yarn itself. Still it is so gorgeous and when you think that two skeins make you a gorgeous silk shawl for around 65.00 or so that really is not expensive for a hand knit luxury item.

And many many customer favorites like glacier, are back in stock!


We also are currently uploading a new shipment from HipKnits in the UK. There are new self striping sock yarns spun from blue faced leicester yarn, and a luxury sock yarn that is 50% alpaca and 50% blue faced. Here is one pretty luxury sock yarn.


And then wow, look at this colorway. I am tempted to grab this for my own stash! This is a 90% wool, 10% nylon sock yarn and it is gorgeous!!!




Next week you are going to see a gorgeous new shawl pattern release by Pam Covert. The yarn is Lanas Puras Melosa and there is a crochet version and knit version. These shawls are gorgeous beyond words!! The GGH yarn and BRAND NEW Rebecca magazines for fall arrived today but we need a bit of web work to get them up! And many more exciting items.

About HipKnits and other things...

We are super excited to have HipKnits, UK products on our website with even more on the way. Kerrie Allman, the founder and owner of HipKnits, UK really is a talented and hardworking fiber artist. She is someone who has done it all in a way. She started HipKnits, UK and now hand dyes 20 different types of yarns for her studio and store. She hired designers very early to do patterns for her yarn and this was a very smart move on her part. She also does her own designs to provide free pattern support to customers who purchase her yarn. She founded the online knit magazine many know about called MagKnits. She also recently founded a UK based knitting magazine that we now carry at One Planet Yarn and Fiber, called Yarn Forward. It is currently listed in our "magazines and books section." She also owns a really neat company called SewHip! How much can one person do! We won't even mention her personal life! On top of this, she is an incredibly nice person unaffected by her success and a real pleasure to work with. HipKnits, UK is actually the type of company we like being affiliated with at One Planet Yarn and Fiber. Please make sure to start at Kerrie's blog and read all about her and her various enterprises.


We currently are carrying HipKnits silk and cashmere yarns along sari silk yarn and sock yarns and patterns. We did not get all of the silk yarn, which actually is the yarn that supports most of the patterns and it will be here soon. Her sock yarn is beautiful and the cashmere is amazing. The yardage on the skeins is high so take a close look. Even if a skein says $ 38.99, if it has 750 yards of fingering cashmere, that is a lot of cashmere for the price! Here is one of our favorite sock yarns called Subtle, which is almost sold out already. We love the subtle colors of the skein

Here is one of our favorite patterns done in HipKnits sock weight cashmere designed by One Planet Yarn and Fiber's own Creative Director, Melissa Wehrle. It is called Annabelle and is available by download as all the other HipKnits patterns are. Plus, there are lots of patterns that are free with a purchase of HipKnits yarns.



What else is new or coming soon?

We have three new WoolPets needle felting kits-a bunny, a blue bell and an intermediate kit called Sheep. These are hot sellers because they are so much fun and they teach people basic needle felting skills while completing a project. In the next two days, we'll be posting gorgeous new lace yarns from Chewy Spaghetti and a beautiful new shipment of yarns from A Piece of Vermont. This time, A Piece of Vermont, sent along "real Vermonter" yarn too! We'll show some photos soon. We have two cotton yarns coming and a new bamboo yarn from several new amazing companies which will remain a surprise for now!! And we have a order from Yarn Pirate coming in the next few days with another one promised for May!! PLUS, we are adding two of the most amazing new indie companies, along with two spindle makers. And we have about six or so exclusive patterns also releasing!! So, you can see we have lots of exciting news and products now and coming soon.

Also, only a few more days for the April sale..... Certain products are 10% and 15% off for only a few more days, including all books and magazines by the way and they are already discounted. If you didn't get the flier or want one again, let us know. Because there won't be another sale most likely for awhile. With independent artisans and smaller yarn companies, it is hard to have sales on products because they are all handmade......

February 12th week------

What's new this week in the shop? So many items.

First, all of the brand new Wooldancer sock yarns have been listed on One Planet. These yarns come to us all the way from Australia. Wooldancer yarns are absolutely amazing. The sock yarn is 100% pure Australian wool. The fiber content is 100% superwash merino and this yarn is super soft and squishy. What gorgeous hanks of yarn!! These yarns are truly some of the nicest sock yarns I have ever seen. The fiber is very high quality and the colors and color choices are brilliant.
Each colorway is so unique and the depth and mix of colors show this fiber artist's talent! Here is one of Michelle's yarns entitles Sting of the Thai Orchid!! I mean, have you ever seen anything so gorgeous in your life!! The feel, the color, just too yummy for words! Michelle also has an ETSY shop, so make sure to check that out as well...




We also have about 20 new colors of Sheep Shop One and Sheep Shop Two yarns. These yarns are from Uruguay and are just wonderful. Sheep Shop One is a heavy worsted yarn in a single ply. and Sheep Shop Two is a bulky weight yarn. Both are handpainted and 100% merino yarn and they are incredible to work with. Sheep Three will be here soon. We are the exclusive online only seller for Sheep Shop Yarns so we wanted to have every single color available and every single pattern. They are not all up yet in the shop, but they will be soon. There are quite a few new patterns also coming soon. For now, please check out all the of brilliant colorways!! There are so many! We have lots of new handpainted fibers listed and an entirely new shipment of Woolyvine spindles. Not only are there stone spindles but there are a few with glass whorls as well. Take a look at these!! They are gorgeous. Later this week, we should have about 10 or so new Traveler Spindle kits. Those were the kits featured in Spin Of Magazine last fall.... Watch for these.......


What else? We have lots of new magazines and books in!! Including the three new Interweave Press titles just released and these are hard to get! Lace Style, No Sheep for You and Favorite Socks. All really great books with beautiful patterns..... We keep selling them as they are listed but more are on order..


Coming soon...gorgeous sock yarns from Germany called Marion's Sock Yarns, a new line of Yarn Botanika yarns that is very special, lots of other unusual Yarn Botanika hand dyes, Llamajamas yarns, patterns and fun finished stuff for kids, Marie Grace Smith knitting patterns, new orders from Yarn Pirate and hopefully Monsoon Winds/Yarnahoy, Hipknits yarns, patterns, magazines and other items from England and more!! We also have several pattern releases including another crochet pattern for Black Pearl Yarns cashmere and quite a few patterns for Lanas Puras yarns.
