Sari Silk For Spinners

I have been ogling this spinning fiber for a long time, wondering when I would ever be able to add it in to the store.  So, here you go.  Recycled Sari silk for spinners!

Beautiful multicolored recycled Sari Silk for spinners.  Wonderful colors, great for blending.  Recycled sari silk is from Nepal and India.  Leftover silk fabric from making saris is sent to Nepal for processing in small villages.  Impoverished women in Nepal are given the opportunity to improve their lives and give them a way to make a living that is sustainable.  You are supporting these women by purchasing this fiber.

Happy Spinning!

A friend of mine made a beautiful clapotis - very long and drapey - using sari silk. It was a big hit with fairgoers when she wore it in 2009 to the Rhinebeck Dutchess County NY Sheep and Wool Festival. It makes for a very dramatic and colorful accessory when you wear it with a "little black dress" or pants.
