February Hand Dyed Roving Contest - Sign Up For The Blog

The prize for this contest is a 4 ounce hand painted roving from OPYF.  There will be 3 winners chosen at the end of the month.  In order to enter, you must sign up as a subscriber to the blog and post a positive comment on the February Blog Contest page.  You can just say hi or you can write a little story about what you are currently working on.  Winners will be chosen during the first week of March 2011.

This is just an example.  This roving was all purchased by a single customer last year.

Good Luck!

I bought a skein of Madelintosh. I made a great cowl called Sev(en) Circle. It was seven circles knitted all together. Beautiful and fun to knit!

I love that you left the first comment. Are you already subscribed to the blog? Also, if I do not have a name I will be unable to enter you in the contest.

What Madelinetosh yarn did you use for the pattern? Can you put a photo of the finished cowl on the One Planet Knitters Ravelry page? YOu will see the post for the February contest there.

I admire your helping the poor farmer who lost his barn...thanks for letting us know about it! I made a donation this evening.

Diana,
We live in a small world. We need to help our neighbor rebuild his barn. I did add to the prizes being given out for the raffle today. A three month membership in the fabulous Fiber of the Month Club from OPYF.

Love your fiber and colors best i have seen in a while.

louyebe, the Madelinetosh yarns are wonderful. The pictures can not do the vibrancy of the yarn any justice. I can't wait to cast on for the OPYF KAL for the Cream and Sugar Cowl next week.

Hi Darla,
Thank you for contributing to the blog. I love all the k=new yarns coming in, but my hands always itch to have knitting needles in hand as I look around the shelves of my office!

Love your site. Lovely yarn and even more lovely fleece!

One Planet said...

Hi Clare! Thank you for signing up for the blog. It's where the rest of my twitter, ravelry and facebook posts come from. I need to get to the dye pots again next week for you. How did you like that last roving?

LOVE the blog! I am a long-time fan of OPYF. :-) I crochet, spin, needle felt and wet felt. I also weave a bit (only small stuff) and am giving knitting a try...again. I haven't been too successful yet, but I'm hopeful! My blog is: thefiberforum.com. Thanks!

One Planet said...

Hi Andrea,
I know a lot of people are reading the blog, but are not "following it. Since I try to post just about every day, this seemed like a good idea for the contest.

I know what yo mean about changing "sports". I tried knitting as a kid and didn't like it. I crocheted and did needlepoint. Now I knit, spin, rigid heddle weave, crochet, dye, clean and prep fleeces. Soon I'll have a floor loom- lessons in April. It's a sickness.

Good luck with your blog and keep us posted with your progress. You can always share photos and questions here, on the ravelry page or the facebook page. Remember we have a knitting teacher on board. Maty Glendinning.

So glad that I found you via Twitter this morning...I really love your blog.

I'm currently working on my first mohair pullover - a lovely pattern from Creative Knitting's January issue. The pattern's called "Ethereal Eyelet Pullover." Very easy and I hope it'll be a beauty when it's done!

One Planet said...

Welcome Seraphimgirl! Thank you for your post. So far only 5 new people have opted to follow the blog this month.

Everyone, can you please send the word out about the blog and contest? For every person you refer that follows and comments I will give you an extra entry. Make sure that your friends say who referred them so I can give you credit.

I have always loved your website and the name you have. Makes our big world seem more like one community that just loves "string" and what makes "string". Thanks for sharing your kindness!

One Planet said...

Hi Carla!
Thank you for your kind comments. This business sure does shrink the world. The string just pulls it all in tighter.

Do you still need $$ for the farmer? Wonderful of you to do that. Knitters have kind hearts.

Can people who are already signed up for the blog still participate in the contest or is it just for new "members"?

Am currently making mittens for a charity called AfghansforAfghans which makes wool clothing for children in Afghanistan.

Want to make some Ysobel Teague stuff for myself with Madeline Tosh. It's so gorgeous.

Hi Barb,
No one is excluded as long as they make a positive post. Welcome to the contest!

About the Juniper Moon Farm barn raising, you will need to contact them as the raffle has ended. I am sure that they will not refuse any "extra" contributions.

Hello,
I found your blog through the Pete's Greens donors, via Juniper Moon Farm, via Ravelry..... yes, it is a small world, and a world of kind and generous spinners and knitters! I am working on about 5 projects right now, including fair isle mittens, and a sweater for Knit for Tibet.

I think you have more projects going than me right now.

I finished my baby projects for my great nephew my niece was very happy with them...now I'm working on spinning for a shawl. I'm mixing three colors together two multi color fibers and one chocolate brown. The two multi color fibers are similar in colors and blend nicely together, and I will ply with the chocolate brown. I missed my spinning. I love the colors you were posting for the give away.. Thanks for the opportunity.

I'm spinning for a shawl. So far I've spun together two different variegated colors to one large bobbin and will ply it together with some chocolate brown Cordell. I have to say I'm addicted to fiber, yarn, spinning and knitting. I love your fiber. Thank you for opportunity to post for giveaway.

Hi there,
I received my box of Artesano yarns from One Planet Yarn and Fiber a few weeks ago. Your service was fast, courteous and your packaging was so nice (with tissue paper and ribbons). I loved opening my box, even though i knew exactly what was inside:) Your small touches are so sweet. Thanks so much! I am working on a Tina Barret design for a baby cozy blanket (with a little sheep head in the middle). so nice working with this Artesano yarn. Thanks for stocking!

sock2girl,
What is the difference between a grandnephew and a greatnephew? My nephew and niece are expecting their first in a month or two. What does that make me? Besides ecstatic?

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for your kind words. I love packing the orders. It's like wrapping a present for each and every one of you.

I'm an old fan (make that long-term fan!) but a blog lurker. From your description, I think I will be ordering some Madelintosh, it sounds yummy! What is its best use?

One Planet said...

@jogz2jaz
You can use Madelinetosh yarns for any project from socks to sweaters! Pick a yarn and then look at the patterns available from Madelinetosh. Also, Ravelry is a great spot to find patterns that were done using their yarns. I;m thinking of making a shawl with tosh light.
